Open dataset: 59 ERDI laser rangefinder models
The same table the selector runs on, as JSON and CSV, free to download and cite. Transcribed from the manufacturer's model pages on 2026-10-23; test conditions included so a range number can never be read without its caveat.
Reference tables
| Table | Answers |
|---|---|
| Range conditions | What target, reflectance and visibility each published range was measured against |
| Interfaces | Which interface class each model uses, as published, plus supply and mass |
| Optics | Divergence, aperture, pulse energy, update rate, and spot size at 1 km |
| By application | Six job profiles with matching models and the selection rule stated |
| Sources and method | How the dataset was extracted, what was excluded, and how to check a row |
Fields
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| model, slug | Manufacturer model code and URL slug |
| family | rangefinder, lidar_sensor or laser_source |
| wavelength_nm, band | Laser wavelength in nm; band is 905 / 940 / 1535 |
| range_max_m | Maximum measuring range in metres, parsed from the published figure |
| range_min_m | Minimum or blind range in metres where published |
| range_condition | Verbatim published test condition for that range figure |
| accuracy_m, accuracy_raw | Ranging accuracy in metres, plus the original string (some are proportional, not fixed) |
| rate_hz, rate_raw | Update rate in Hz where a single figure applies, plus the original string |
| divergence_mrad, energy_uj | Beam divergence and pulse energy |
| iface, supply, weight_g, dimensions, temp, ip | Electrical and mechanical envelope |
| laser_class | Safety statement as printed by the manufacturer — not a classification of your finished product |
| url | Canonical manufacturer page for the model |
Known limits
- No prices. Commercial terms come from ERDI directly.
- Accuracy is a scalar where the manufacturer gives one; where the accuracy is proportional (D > 100 m, or %) the raw string is authoritative, not the scalar.
- Range figures are not normalised. A 23 km row and a 12 km row are not comparable unless
you compare their conditions, which is why
range_conditionships alongside. - Twelve rows are
laser_source: no receiver, no range.
