Sources and method: how this dataset was built
Every number on this site comes from a manufacturer page, and every figure keeps the condition it was published with. This page documents how the transcription was done, what it does not cover, and how to check it — so you can decide how far to trust it.
The method, in order
- Source. The manufacturer's published model page for each model, fetched 2026-10-23.
- Extraction. Specification tables are read row by row. Labels are normalised (the same attribute appears as Measuring range, Measurement range, Maximum range, Ranging distance and Maximum measurement distance across the catalogue), then values are parsed with their units.
- Range is not taken from the first number on the page. Resolution, minimum range and blind range are explicitly excluded; visibility figures, target dimensions and reflectance percentages inside the same cell are excluded too. A range figure is only accepted when the number is a distance in metres or kilometres that is not part of a condition.
- Units normalised. Wavelength in µm is converted to nm, accuracy in cm to m, mass in kg
to g, all with the original string kept alongside (
accuracy_raw,rate_raw). - Conditions kept verbatim.
range_conditionis the manufacturer's own sentence, not a summary. Where a model publishes several conditions, the one behind the maximum figure is kept and the alternatives are listed. - No extrapolation. If a model does not publish mass or an interface, the dataset has an empty field. It is never inferred from a neighbouring model.
What the dataset does not do
- It does not normalise range. A 23 km row and a 12 km row are only comparable through their conditions, which is why the condition ships in the same row.
- It does not resolve proportional accuracy into a single number. Where the manufacturer gives ±0.3 m + D × 0.7 ‰, the scalar field carries the near-field term and the raw string carries the formula.
- It does not classify your product. The
laser_classfield reproduces the module's own statement. The classification of an assembled product requires its own assessment. - It does not include prices. Commercial terms are quoted per configuration.
How to check us
Every model page carries a link to the manufacturer page it was transcribed from, and the dataset
row carries the same URL in the url field. Pick three rows, open the sources, compare.
If a row is wrong, tell us and it gets corrected — an errata is cheaper than a design review built
on a bad number.
